Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between self-awareness and transformational leadership skills of school managers in Turkey. The research was conducted on using the relational survey method, The Self-Awareness Competence Scale and the Transformational Leadership Questionnaire. 400 elementary and high schools managers from Sanhurfa participated in the study. Average and standard deviation, regression and correlation analyses were made. The research indicated that the self-awareness competence was positively and significantly related to transformational leadership and its sub-dimensions. The regression analysis predicted 19.4% of variation on transformational leadership explained by the self - awareness competence. The variation ratios on sub-dimensions of transformational leadership explained by self-awareness were Idealized Influence (14.4%), Intellectual Stimulation (16.3%), Inspirational Motivation (18.3%), and Individualized Consideration (14.4%).
