Abstract:
Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS) was developed to measure social appearance by Hart et al (2008) The purpose of the present study was to investigate the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale 340 university students (143 female 197 male) participated in the study 1 he Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE) was used for the criterion validity In older to determine the construct validity of The Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS) exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted The factor analysis resulted in a factors The Cronbach's alpha for the SAAS was 93 and split-half 88 The computed test re test reliability coefficient for the SAAS was 85 There was 60 correlation between SAAS and BFNE Item total correlation coefficients of the Turkish SAAS ranged from 32 to 82 Analysis demonstrated that SAAS had a satisfactory level of reliability and validity in Turkish university students
