Erken çocukluk dönemi çocuk kitaplarının eleştirel düşünmeye etkisinin incelenmesi = Investigation of the effect of early childhood children's books on critical thinking

Abstract

Bu çalışma erken çocukluk dönemi çocuk kitaplarının felsefi yönden değerlendirilerek eleştirel düşünmeye etkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırma ön test son test tek gruplu yarı deneysel modele sahiptir. Araştırma sırasında ön test uygulandıktan sonra 10 hafta boyunca 10 farklı resimli çocuk edebiyatı ürünü okunmuş ve değerlendirme soruları üzerine oturumlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Oturumların süresi 30-40 dakika arasında değişkenlik göstermiştir. Oturumlar tamamlandıktan sonra son test uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında Düzce İli Gümüşova İlçesi'ndeki bir resmi ilköğretim kurumuna devam eden 66+ aylık toplam 30 çocuk oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın yapıldığı ilkokul, genellikle orta sosyoekonomik düzeydeki ailelere mensup çocuklarının eğitim aldığı bir kurum olması yönünden tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak,5-6 Yaş Çocuklar İçin Felsefi Sorgulama Yoluyla Eleştirel Düşünmenin Değerlendirilmesi ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçekte ölçülen beceriler felsefi sorgulama, dil ve bilişsel beceriler, soru oluşturma olmak üzere toplam 3 alt boyutta sahiptir. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler ölçekte belirtilen alt boyutlar üzerinden değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Veriler SPSS 25,0 paket programına aktarılmış, analiz yapılmadan önce kayıp veriler için kontrol yapılmış ve veri setinde kayıp veri olmadığı görülmüştür. Araştırmanın bulguları elde edilmeden ve hangi tür testlerin yapılacağına karar vermeden önce araştırmanın ön test ve son test puan farklarının normal dağılım gösterip göstermediğine bakılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin son test ön test puan farkı açısından normallik varsayımını karşıladığı görülmüştür. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular çocuk edebiyatı ürünlerini okuma etkinliğinin öğrencilerin felsefi sorgulama becerilerini arttırmada, soru oluşturma becerilerini arttırdı, dil ve bilişsel becerilerini geliştirmede etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. This study was conducted to examine the effects of early childhood children's books on critical thinking by evaluating them philosophically.The research pre-test post-test has a single group experimental model.During the research, after the pre-test was applied, 10 different children's literature products with illustrations were read for 10 weeks and sessions were held on evaluation questions. The duration of the sessions varied between 30-40 minutes. After the sessions were completed, the post-test was applied. The study group of the research consists of a total of 30 children of 66+ months who attend an official primary education institution in Gümüşova District of Düzce Province in the academic year 2020-2021. The primary school where the study was conducted was chosen as an institution where children of families with middle socio-economic status receive education. In the research, as a data collection tool, the scale of Evaluation of Critical Thinking by Philosophical Inquiry for Children aged 5-6 was used. The scale measures skills in 3 sub-dimensions: philosophical inquiry, language and cognitive skills, and questioning. The data obtained from the research were evaluated on the sub-dimensions specified in the scale. The data were transferred to the SPSS 25.0 package program, before the analysis was done, a check was made for the lost data and it was seen that there was no lost data in the data set. Before the findings of the study were obtained and before deciding which type of tests to be performed, it was checked whether the difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the research showed normal distribution. It was observed that the research data met the normality assumption in terms of the difference in post-test pre-test scores. The findings of the study found that the activity of reading children's literature products was effective in increasing students' philosophical inquiry skills, increasing their question-forming skills, and improving their language and cognitive skills.
