dc.description.abstract This research presents the synthesis, optical and physical properties of five new glass samples based on tellurium dioxide with the following chemical composition 75TeO(2) - 5Na(2)O - (x-20) BaO - xYbO(1.5), where x = 2, 5, 10, 15 mol%, the fifth sample contains the following chemical composition: 65TeO(2) - 5Na(2)O - 15BaO - 5YbO(1.5) - 10BiO(1.5) mol%. The samples were coded as follows TNB-Y02; TNB-Y05; TNBY-10; TNB-Y15; TNBY-Bi10, respectively. We initially studied the optical and physical changes on the studied glass when the Ba2+ atoms were replaced by Yb3+ atoms and Te2+ atoms with Bi3+. We found that the presence of bismuth in the TNBY-Bi10 sample has a positive impact in increasing the energy of the bang gap and the density of the glass sample. On the other hand, all the studied samples TNBY except the TNBY-Bi10 sample have emission band with a wavelength of 1025 nm at room temperature. Therefore, such glass samples have a potential use in transparent electrodes in solar cells as well as in surface acoustic wave devices.
