Çeviri sürecinde görsel-işitsel öğelerin anlam üretimindeki öneminin araştırılması

Abstract

Görsel-işitsel çeviri, diğer çeviri türlerinden farklı olarak birçok kanalı içinde bulunduran bir çeviri türüdür. Çeviribilim alanında yıllardır var olmaktadır ve insanların keyifle tercih edebildiği bir çeviri türüdür. Görsel-işitsel çevirilerin kitleler tarafından en çok fark edildiği yer televizyondur. Çağın ilerlemesi ve teknolojinin durmak bilmeyen devamlılığı ile görsel-işitsel çevirilere insanlar pek çok kanaldan ulaşabilmektedirler. Çalışmada ise görsel-işitsel öğelerin temelinde olan görsellik, işitsellik ve dil kodlarından sadece görsel ve işitsel kodlar ele alınarak çevirilerde bu kodların anlam yaratımındaki önemi ve ne derece etkili olduğu araştırılmak istenmiştir. Bu sebeple çalışmada dil olarak çevirmenlerin sahip olmadıkları Fransızca dilinde bir görsel-işitsel ürün tercih edilerek çevirmenler de bu kritere göre seçilmiştir. Çevirmenlerin çeviri için gerekli olan bütün edinçlere sahip olup sadece dil edincine sahip olmamaları, aynı çalışmayı çevirmen olmayanlarla da yapmaya teşvik etmiştir. Böylece görsel-işitsel ürünlerin etkisi iki tür denekle de incelenip tartışılma fırsatı olacaktır. Denekler 10 çevirmen, 4 çevirmen olmayan kişiler olarak belirlenmiştir. Görsel-işitsel ürün, incelenmek istenen beş farklı sahne içermekte ve 11 dakikadan oluşmaktadır. Her sahne için araştırmaya uygun açık uçlu sorular hazırlanarak deneklerle röportaj yapılmıştır. Röportaj soruları ve yapılan çeviriler neticesinde Frederic Chaume’nin görsel-işitsel ürünlerdeki kodları ele alınarak değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır.

Audio-visual translation, unlike other types of translation, is a type of translation that includes many channels. The place where audio-visual translations are most noticed by the masses is television. With the advancement of the age and the unceasing continuity of technology, people can access audio-visual translations through many channels. In this study, it was aimed to research the importance of these codes in meaning creation and to what extent they are effective in translations by considering only the visual and audio codes among the visual, auditory and language codes that are the basis of the audio-visual elements. For this reason, in this study, an audio-visual product in French, which translators do not understand, was chosen as the language and translators were selected according to this criterion. The fact that translators have all the skills required for translation and not only have language skills encouraged them to do the same work with non-translators. Thus, the effect of audio-visual products will be examined and discussed with both types of subjects. The subjects were determined as 10 translators, 4 non-translators. The audio-visual product includes five different scenes to be examined and consists of 11 minutes. For each scene, open-ended questions suitable for the research were prepared and the subjects were interviewed. As a result of the interview questions and the translations made, evaluations were made by considering the codes of Frederic Chaume in audio-visual products.
