Abstract:
The temperature distribution for steady-state heat transfer and the thermal stresses induced by a temperature difference in a silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic tube with a circular fin are studied in this paper. The finite element method was used to compute the temperature and the stress fields. The influence of a circular fin with different profiles on the temperature and thermal stresses has been investigated. It is found that the fin diameter is a significant parameter affecting the temperature and stress distributions. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
