dc.description.abstract Seyyid All Sultan, commonly known as Kizildeli Sultan, was a dervish/ghazi warrior, who, during the early years of the Ottoman principality, played an important role in the Turkification and Islamization of Rumeli (Thrace). His activities are known primarily from the vakif (pious foundation) documents of the tekke (dervish lodge) he established during the period of Bayezid as well as from a hagiographical work dedicated to him, entitled Velayetname. Despite his historical importance, there are relatively few studies on Seyyid All Sultan. While previous scholarship has focused primarily on the vakif documents related to his tekke in Dimetoka, more recent studies have illuminated aspects of his life based on his Velayetname. Finally, the latest research has dealt with traditions circulating about Seyyid All Sultan in the regions of Malatya and Kutahya.
