Antroposen Çağı Söylemi Bağlamında Doğa Tahribatının Görünmez Işıkla Belgelenmesi: Kızılötesi Çevre Fotoğrafçılığı Uygulaması

Abstract

18. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde başlayan ve 19. yüzyıl boyunca daha geniş coğrafyalara yayılan sanayileşme süreci, belki de insanın gelişim sürecindeki mutlak hâkimiyet adına en önemlisidir. Bu hususta 2000 senesinde kimyager Paul Josef Crutzen ve Eugene Filmore Stoermer Nature isimli dergide çalışmalarını yayımlamışlardır. Çalışmalarında yeryüzünün değişim sürecine girerek Holosen Çağının sona erdiğini ve artık bu dönemin Yunanca kökenli insan çağı anlamına gelen Antroposen Çağı olması gerektiğini savunmuşlardır (Crutzen & Stoermer, 2002). İnsanın artık doğaya karşı daha güçlü olduğunu ve geri dönülmesi zor bir değişimin içinde yer aldığını öne sürmüşlerdir. Bu çalışmaya göre sanayi devrimi ile başlayan mekanikleşme ve gelişme, kavram adına en güçlü dönüşüm noktası olmaktadır. Teknolojik gelişmeler doğrultusunda fotoğraf alanı da hem teknik hem de yöntem anlamında gelişmeler yaşamıştır. Kızılötesi Çevre Fotoğrafçılığı ile kavram bağlamında çekilen yerler Antroposen söylemini güçlendirecek yerler olarak seçilmiştir. Tekniği uygulanma süreci ve teknik gereklilikleri anlatılarak kavram irdelenmiştir. Öyle ki, kızılötesi ışınların tarihsel süreci ve görünmeyenin görüntülenmesi estetik bir biçimde çalışılmıştır. Bu tez, görsel iletişim tasarımı adına disiplinler arası bir çalışmanın örneğidir.

The industrialization process, which started in the last quarter of the 18th century and spread to wider geographies throughout the 19th century, is perhaps the most important in terms of absolute dominance in this development process. In this regard, in 2000, chemists Paul Josef Crutzen and Eugene Filmore Stoermer published their work in the journal Nature. In their studies, they argued that the Holocene Age came to an end by entering the change process of the earth and that this period should now be the Anthropocene Age, which means the human age of Greek origin (Crutzen & Stoermer, 2002). As a matter of fact, as well as those who do not accept the concept, there are studies on what time it covers or when it starts. According to this study, the mechanization and development that started with the industrial revolution is the strongest transformation point for the concept. In line with technological developments, the field of photography has also experienced developments in terms of both technique and method. The places taken in the context of the concept with Infrared Environmental Photography were chosen as the places to strengthen the Anthropocene discourse. The concept is examined by explaining the process of applying the technique and its technical requirements. So much so that the historical process of infrared rays and the visualization of the invisible have been studied in an aesthetic way. This thesis is an example of an interdisciplinary study of visual communication design.
