ÖZET Bu çalışma ile aile kurumunun Peyami SAFA'nın romanlarına nasıl yansıdığının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlandı. Romanın tanımı, tarihçesi özet olarak zikredilmeye çalışıldı. Aile kurumunun tanımı, ailenin tarihçesi ve çeşitleri, Türk ailesi ve tarihçesine de kısaca deyinildi. Romanlarını daha iyi değerlendirebilmek amacıyla Peyami SAFA'nın hayatı, aile ve yayın hayatı, kadın ve aile hakkındaki görüşleri üzerinde duruldu. Yazarın 11 romanı incelenerek aile ve aileyi ilgilendiren kısımlar irdelendi ve tartışıldı. Sonuç bölümünde ise tetkik edilen eserlerdeki ailelerin çerçevesinde kadın,ahlak, çocuk terbiyesi, Doğu-Batı ikilemi, batılılaşmanın aileler üzerine olan etkileri üzerinde kısaca duruldu ve eserler birbiri ile karşılaştırılarak yazarın çizdiği veya olmasını istediği aile emsali ortaya konmaya çalışıldı. The aim of this study is to examine the family institution in Peyami Safa' s fictions. The history and the development of fiction is shorly mentioned. The basis of the family, history and kinds of family institution were also mentioned, especially the structure of Turkish family and its history. Also the life of Peyami Safa, namely his family life and publications were examined as well as the opinions on woman and family. In the study 1 1 fictions were analysed, especially the sections related to the family and family life. Also, woman, ethics, education of the children, East and West dualism, the effects of the Westernization on the family life in turkey were studied. By making comparisons the study tried to find out the family life model life in Peyami Safa' s fictions, by evaluating the opinions of Peyami Safa, as a result the importance of family institution was insisted.
