Abstract

Öğrencilerin dil kullanımlarına toplumsal açıdan yaklaşabilmek için üd soruya cevap vermek gerekirdi: Birincisi, onların toplumsal yapılan nedir, hangi toplumsal katmana mensupturlar? İkincisi, öğrenciler dili ne şekilde kullanmaktadır, dil kullanım seviyeleri nedir?. Bu iki soru yan yana gelince Toplumsal Dilbilim konusu da kaçınılmaz oluyor. Toplumsal Dilbilimin ne olduğunu, uğraşı alanmı ve kullandığı yöntemleri bilmeden bu sorulara cevap verebilmenin mümkün olamayacağını düşündüğümden, önce Toplumsal Dilbilimin konusunu, uğraşı alanmı ve yöntemlerini açıklamaya çalıştım. Daha sonra uygulamış olduğum bir anket ile doksan iki öğrencinin ait olduğu toplumsal katmanlarım ve yine kendilerine yazdırmış olduğum ikişer kompozisyon ile dil kullanımlarım ortaya çıkarmaya çalıştım. Toplumsal katman ile dil kullanımı arasındaki bağlantı hakkında başlıca iki görüş vardır. Biri ingiliz Bilimcisi Basil Bemstein'ın ki, kendisi toplumsal katmanın yüksekliğinin dil kullanımının kalitesi ile doğru orantılı bir ilişkisi olduğunu savunur. Diğeri ise Labov tarafindan ileri sürülmektedir ki, o da katmanların dil kullanımının farklı olduğunu, ancak birinin diğerine herhangi bir üstünlük teşkil etmediği hipotezini ileri sürer. Ben yapmış olduğum çalışmamın sonucunda Bemstein'ın görüşünün daha tutarlı olduğunu, ancak her zaman da geçerli olmadığını söylemekle yerinebilirim. Zira Alt Katmanlara ait birçok kişinin de kendisinden daha üst katmanda yer alan birçok kişiden dili çok daha iyi kullandığım tespit ettim. O halde ah katmanlara mensup olmanın dili kötü kullanmaya kişiyi mahkum edemeyeceğini, kişi istedikten, kendini yetiştirdikten sonra gayret sarf ederek dili gayet güzel kullanabileceğini söyleyebilirim. Demek ki, dil kullanımına sah kişinin içinde bulunduğu toplumsal konum değil, bunun yam sıra bir de kendi psikolojik durumu etki etmektedir. Bu durumda kişilerin dil kullanımını araştırırken hem toplumsal, hem de psikolojik yapılarını incelememiz gerekir, eğer bir sonuca varmak istiyorsak. Yani Toplumsal Dilbilimi (Soziolinguistik) ile Ruhsal Dilbilimi (Psycholinguistik) birlikte işlemek gerekir.

We have to ask two questions to know the usage of language of the pupils with regard to the social science. At first, what are their social stratums? and at second, how do they use the language? The sociological linguistics is inebitable when these two questions come as the same time. Because I thought that it is impossible to answer these questions without explaining the definition of the sociological linguistics, the object of the sociological linguistics and the method of the sociological linguistics, I tried to explain them. Then I found out the stratums of the ninetytwo pupils with a inquiry and their usages through two compositions. There are two opinions about the relation between the stratum and the usage of language. The one was represented from the English scientist 'Bernstein". He said the usage would be better if the stratum of the speaker is higher. The other was the American scientist "Labov". He said that the usages of the people of the lowly stratum haven't got deficiencies compared with the usages of language of the higher stratum. They are only differently. I found out of my works that the Bernstein's opinion is lighter than the Labov's opinion. But the Bernstein's opinion isn't always true, too. Many people who are members of the lowly stratum can use the language better than some people who are members of the high stratum. So the social stratum isn't the only aspect which determine the usage of language. The psychological aspect of the speaker must be important, too. So we have to regard to all these two aspects if we want to know why someone's language is better or worse than the other. vni
