Abstract

Birinci Dünya Savaşı 20. yüzyılın başında meydana gelmiş ve tüm dünyayı etkilemiş bir savaştır.1914 yılında başlayan bu savaş dört sene gibi uzun bir süre devam etmiş, savaşan ve savaşmayan devletleri derinden etkilemiştir.1917 yılı Birinci Dünya Savaşı için savaşın verdiği sıkıntılar nedeniyle tüm cephe ve gerisinde barış isteklerinin artığı bir dönemdi. Savaştan bıkan halk ile askerler bunu her yerde dile getirmeye başlamışlardı. Seslerini en çok yükselten Ruslar olmuş ve bu yılda gelen iki ihtilal sonucu savaştan çekilmişlerdir.Almanya 1917 yılında İngiltere'yi denizaltı savaşlarıyla yok etmeyi planlamış ancak bunu başaramadığı gibi uyguladığı yanlış strateji sonucunda Amerika'nın savaşa katılmasına sebep olmuş, bu durum da kendisi için yıkım olmuştur.İtilaf devletlerinin amacı, Almanya'yı bir daha savaşamayacak duruma getirmekti. Bu sebepten dolayı 1917 ilk baharından itibaren tüm cephelerde taarruza geçmişler ancak bundan bir sonuç çıkmamış üstelik İtalya büyük bir bozguna uğramıştır.Osmanlı Devleti'ne baktığımızda bu devlet kendi ülke sınırları içinde açılmış cephelerde mücadele etmekle kalmamış müttefiklerine yardım amaçlı seçkin kuvvetlerini Avrupa cephelerine yollamıştır. Ancak bu seçkin askerlerin yokluğunu Filistin ve Irak cephelerinde daha sonra hissedeceklerdir. Kudüs ve Bağdat gibi kendileri için kutsal şehirleri kaybetmişlerdir.1917 yılı tüm gelişmelere rağmen galip tarafın çıkmadığı ve savaşların bir siper savaşı haline geldiği bir yıl olmuştu. Fakat Amerika'nın savaşa girmesi ve İtilaf devletlerine yardımı savaşta ibrenin Müttefik devletlere dönmesine sebep olmuştur.

First World war took place at the beginning of the twentieth century and effected the whole world. The warwhich begun in 1914 had continued as long as four years and effected deeply both the countries in war and out of the war.The year 1917 was the period of increase in the request for peace both at the front lines and behind the front lines as a result of the difficulties of the war. Those people and soldiers who fed up of the war voiced this everywhere. The Russians had been the one who voiced this more and as a result of the two revolutions in that same year, they withdrew from the war.Germany had planned to destroy United Kingdom through submarine attacks, but at the end not only failed in these attempts, as a result of their wrongful strategy they also created reasons for the United States to take part in the war which led to the destruction of Germany itself.The aim of the Allies was to bring Germany in a state that it can not to engage war again. Therefore from the beginning of the 1917 spring the offensive attacks had began in all fronts. No actual success achieved and Italy had faced a major defeat.The Ottoman State on the other hand, not only fought in the fronts around its border, it also send its superior forces to the European fronts to support its allies. In addition the absence of the superior soldiers were later felt in the Palestine and Iraqi frontlines so holy cities such as Jerusalem and Bagdat were lost.Year 1917 had been a year of no winner despite the all developments and it had been a year of defensive fence war. However, with the United States entry to war and support to the allies had been in the favor of the Allies.
