Din toplum ilişkileri bağlamında Abant toplantıları

Abstract

Gazeteciler ve Yazarlar Vakfı'nın yan kuruluslarından biri olan Abant Platformu 1998'de olusturulmus olup, otarihten bu yana Türk toplumunda önemli ölçüde tartısılan konular hakkında düzenlediği sempozyumlarla meshurolmustur. Bu sempozyumlarda ele aldığı tartısma konularından biri de Din ve toplum iliskileridir.Bu master tezimde din-toplum iliskilerini Abant Platformu toplantılarında nasıl ve hangi çerçevede ele alındığına ısıktutmaya çalıstım. Din-toplum iliskileri söz konusu toplantılarda birinci derecede bir konu olarak ele alınmamıssa da,toplantıların pek çoğunda ikinci dereceden önemli konulardan biri olarak tartısılmıstır. Bu nedenle, sempozyumlardaöncelikle tartısılan konular ve bunların nasıl ele alındığıyla ilgili olarak yayınlanan kitapları tarayarak konunun nasıltartısıldığını incelemeye çalıstım.Her seyden önce, hem modern anlayıs ve bakıs açısının hem de ?slam'a göre dini anlam ve içeriği konusunda kısa birbilgi verdim. Buna dinin toplum hayatındaki yerini de ekledim. Ardından, Gazeteciler ve Yazarlar Vakfı ile AbantPlatformu konusunda özet malumat aktardım ve buna Vakıf baskanı Sayın Harun Tokak Bey'le bizzat yaptığı birröportajı ekledim.Çalısmamın üçüncü bölümünde dinin ve din0toplum iliskilerinin Abant toplantılarında nasıl değerlendirildiğiniincelemeye çalıstım. Büyük ihtimalle toplantılara katılımcıların farklı görüslere sahip olmaları ve konunun Türkkamuoyu ve aydınları arasında uzun süredir tartısılıyor olmasından dolayı, Türk aydınları arasında din ve din-toplumiliskileri halkında çok farklı görüslerin olduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Tarafsız bir gözlemci olarak kalmaya çalıstım vetoplantılarda konu üzerinde ileri sürülen hemen bütün farklı görüsleri aktarmaya gayret ettim. Bu arada sadece birrapor edici olarak kalmanın zaman zaman ötesine geçerek, bu farklı görüsler arasında karsılastırmalarda bulundum.Hem tartısmalardan hem de konuların Vakıf temsilcileri sunulusundan da anlasılabileceği üzere, Abant Platformu sözkonusu toplantıları farklı görüslere sahip Türk aydınlarını bir araya getirmek ve bu görüs farklılıklarının toplumdaçatısma sebebi olmaması maksadıyla yapmaktadır. Bu temel düsünce ve hedef toplantılarda yapılan tartısmalar gibi,toplantıların sonuç bildirilerine de yansımaktadır. Çalısmam boyunca yeri geldikçe bu noktayı hatırlatmayı yerindegördüm.Çalısmamda yalnızca sempozyum tartısmalarını içeren kitaplardan değil, konuyla ilgili olarak medyada çıkan haber veyorumlardan da faydalanmaya çalıstım. Değerlendirmelerimde konuyla ilgili daha baska eserlere de basvurdum.Çalısmamda ele alınan konular arasında dinin sosyal fonksiyonları, toplum ve devletle iliskileri, din ve modernizm,din ve dinler arası diyalog ve Büyük Orta Doğu Projesi gibi konular da yer almaktadır.Abant Platformu sadece ve etkili bir sivil toplum kurulusu olarak değil, bir düsünce üretim kurulusu (think-tank)olarak da çalısmaktadır. Türk toplum ve düsünce hayatındaki etkilerinin yanı sıra çalısmalarını son yıllarda Türkiyesınırlarının dısına da tasımıs ve Amerika Birlesik Devletleri, Belçika, Fransa ve Mısır gibi ülkelerde de toplantılardüzenlemistir. Bu toplantılarda sadece Türkiye ile ilgili sorunlar değil, bölgemizi ve bütün dünyayı ilgilendirenmeseleler de ele alınmaktadırAnahtar

The Abant Platform, which is one of the sub-institutions of the Journalists and Writers Foundation,was founded in 1998 and has since been famous for the symposiums it holds on the subjects widelydiscussed in the Turkish Society. One of the subjects it has included in its discussions is therelationship between religion and society.In this thesis I have tried to shed light on how the relationship in question has been dealt with inAbant Symposiums. It has been discussed in many of those symposiums not as the essential topic,but as a secondary one. So studying the subject in the books compiled on the debates made in thosesymposiums, I have tried to explain how the matter has been dealt with.First of all, I have made a brief survey of the meaning and content of religion according to bothmodern contents and Islam, and its place in human social life. Then, I have given information on theJournalists and Writers Foundation and the Abant Platform, adding an interview I made betweenMr. Harun Tokak, the Head of the Foundation.In the third section, I have discussed how religion and its relationship between the society has beendealt with in Abant Symposiums. Most probably because of the wide spectrum of the participants andthe subject being long discussed, it is observed that there are great differences of view among theTurkish intelligentsia about religion and its place in society. Trying to remain as a neutral observeror researcher I have given almost all the different views explained in the symposiums. Without beinga simple reporter I have deemed it useful to make comparisons among the views.As it can easily be understood from both the discussions and the presentation of the symposiums bythe representatives of the Foundation the Abant Platform holds the symposiums in order to bringtogether the Turkish intellectuals from different backgrounds and prevent the conflicting views in thesociety from being causes of social conflicts and clashes. This basic purpose followed for symposiumsshows itself in the manner of discussions made in the during the symposiums and the finaldeclarations. During my thesis I have referred whenever the occasion has required.During my study I have not only used the books on the symposiums but also some media news andcommends on the subject. In making certain evaluations I have also referred to several other booksthat have relevance to the matter.Among the subjects discussed in this theses are the social functions of religion and its relations ofwith state and society, religion and modernism, interfaith dialogue and tolerance and religion in theframework of the American project of Grate or Expended Middle East.It is observed that the Abant Platform works not only a non-governmental organization but also akind of, and the most influential, think-tang. In addition to its social impacts on Turkish social life tocertain extend, it contributes to Turkish intellectual life. Its activities have been transported. Beyondthe Turkish borders and being made in foreign countries such as the U.S, Belgian, France and Egypt.In these activities not only the problems concerning the Turkish society but also the matters havingrelevance with our region and even the whole world are being discussed.
