İlköğretim sosyal bilgiler dersindeki araştırma ödevlerinin (etkinlik, performans ve proje) öğrencileri sosyalleşmesine katkısı

Abstract

Öğrencilerin, son yıllarda toplum içinde yasadıkları uyum sorunlarının giderilmesi ve toplumauyumlarının eksiksiz bir sekilde gerçeklesebilmesi için sosyallesme son derece önemlidir. Toplumdayasanan çatısmaların, bireyler arasındaki iletisim kopukluğundan kaynaklandığı bir gerçektir.Toplumumuzu olusturan bireylerin çevresiyle sağlıklı iletisim kurarak yasam sürmelerini sağlamak,öncelikle hızlı gelisim dönemlerinde öğrencilere eğitim vermekle yükümlü olan ilköğretim okullarınadüsmektedir. ?lköğretim okullarında öğrencilere iyi iletisim kurma becerisini öğretmek vesosyallesmelerine yardımcı olmak, Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin amaçları içindedir. Bu amaçla, yapılanarastırmanın iki temel problemini; ?ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler dersi bünyesinde yer alan arastırmaödevlerinin (etkinlik, proje ve performans) öğrencilerin sosyallesmelerine katkısı nedir? Öğretmenlerinarastırma ödevlerine karsı tutumları nasıldır?? soruları olusturmaktadır.Arastırmada konu hakkında öncelikle literatür taraması yapılmıs, ardından bu literatüre ve uzmangörüslerine dayalı olarak, veri toplamak amacıyla öğrencilere yönelik bir anket düzenlenmistir. Bunlarınyanında verilerin niteliğini artırmak için öğretmenlerle görüsme tasarlanmıstır. Arastırma 2006?2007eğitim öğretim yılında Sakarya il merkezi Serdivan bölgesinde bulunan Mehmet Zorlu ?lköğretim veZübeyde Hanım ?lköğretim okulları öğrencilerine anket uygulayarak, Sakarya il merkezi genelinde 15okulda görevli Sosyal Bilgiler ve 5.sınıf okutan sınıf öğretmenleri ile görüsme yapılmak suretiylegerçeklestirilmistir. Son asamasında ise anket ve görüsmelerden elde edilen sonuçların karsılastırılarakyorumlanması yoluna gidilmistir. Bu arastırma dört bölümden olusmaktadır. Birinci Bölümde SosyalBilgiler ve sosyallesme ile direkt alakalı olan kavramların tanımlamaları yapılmıstır. ?kinci Bölümde,Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin amaçları ve sosyallesme ile arasındaki iliski, bunların birbirlerine etki vekatkıları ortaya konulmus, Üçüncü Bölümde verilerin toplanması ve çözümlenmesi, arastırmaödevlerinin ve sosyal faaliyetlerinin öğrencilerin sosyallesmesine katkısı belirlenmistir. Son bölümde isearastırma bulgularından elde edilen sonuçlar ve daha sonraki arastırmalar için önerilere yer verilmistir.Veri toplama aracı olarak uygulanan anket, kisisel bilgileri öğrenmek amaçlı sekiz, arastırma ödevleriniyaparken takınılan tutum ve sosyallesmislik durum değerlendirmesi amaçlı kırk yedi sorudanolusmaktadır. Öğretmenlerle yapılan görüsmede ise dokuz soru yöneltilmistir. Öğrencilere uygulanananket eğitim öğretim yılının basında ve birinci yarıyıl sonunda olmak üzere iki kez aynı gruplarauygulanmıstır. Veriler toplanırken geçerliliğini ve güvenirliliğini artırmak için anket uygulanırkenöğrencilere her sınıfta açıklamalar yapılmıs, soruların birçoğu anket sırasında açıklanmıstır.Arastırmada elde edilen bilgilerin islenmesi ve istatistiksel çözümlemelerinde SPSS-13 (StatisticalPackage for the Social Sciences) paket programı kullanılmıstır. Veriler frekans (sayı) ve yüzdeler (%)seklinde değerlendirilmistir. Çapraz tablolar yardımıyla, birinci ve ikinci test arasındaki değismeler vearastırma ödevlerini yapma durumları ile sosyallesme durumlarını gösteren soruların karsılastırmalarıyapılmıstır. Verilerin çözümlemesinden sonra su sonuçlara ulasılmıstır: 1.Arastırma ödevlerini yapanöğrenciler, anne, baba, ağabey ve ablalarından daha çok yardım almak zorunda kalırlar ve bunlarlailetisimleri artar. 2. Arastırma ödevlerini yapan öğrenciler ailesinin dısındaki kurum, kurulus ve kisilerlegörüsmek durumunda kalırlar. Bu durum öğrencilerin çevresiyle iletisimini ve sosyallesmesini sağlar. 3.Arastırma ödevlerini yapan öğrencilerde arastırma ödevlerini yapamayan öğrencilere göre büyük orandasosyallesme görülür. 4. Okul ve okul dısında sosyal faaliyetlerde etkin görev alan öğrenciler, görevalmayan öğrencilere göre büyük oranda sosyallesirler. ?lköğretim öğrencilerine Sosyal Bilgiler dersindeher yarıyılda bir proje, her ünitede bir performans ödevi yaptırılması önerilmektedir.

Socialization is of great importance in terms of removing the students? increasing adoptation problemsin the society and realizing their complete adoptation to the society. It is a fact that the conflicts in thesociety derive from the lack of communication among the individuals. It is the basic aim of the primaryeducation schools, which are to educate the students especially in their fast growing periods, to ensurethe survival of the individuals helping them communicate with each other in a healthy way. To teach thestudents how to communicate in a good manner and tok help them socialalize are among the aims ofthe Social Sciences. For this reason, the research is based on two basic problems. The first one is ; whatis the vital contribution of the research tasks (Projects, performances and activities) existing in theextension of Social Sciences to the socialization of the individual? The second one is ; how are theattitudes of the teachers towards the research tasks?In priority, literature scanning was made, then depending upon the views of the experts, a questionnarieaimed at the students about the subject was held in order to collect data. Besides this, meetings wereorganized to the teachers to increase the quality of the data. Research was carried out by means of thequestionnaire held in Mehmet Zorlu and Zübeyde Hanım Primary Education Schools located in theregion of Serdivan in Adapazarı and the surveys applied to the Social Sciences Teachers and 5. Gradeteachers in fifteen schools. Then, the outputs of the questionnaires and surveys are compared andinterpreted. The research is consisted of four parts. In the first part, the directly related concepts ofSocial Sciences and socialization are described. In the second part, the aims of the Social Sciences andits relation with socialization are put forward with their mutual influences and contributions. In the thirdpart, the collection and interpretation of the data, and the contribution of the research tasks, socialactivities to the socialization of the students are determined. In the last part, the results taken from theresearch findings and suggestions for the next researches can be found.The questionnarie used as a means of collecting data consists of 8 questions to get the personalinformation and 47 questions to interpret the state of the students? socialisation and manner while doingtheir homework. In the meetings with the teachers, nine questions were asked. The questionnarie for thestudents were applied to the same groups two times, first at the beginning of the 2006-7 education yearand at the end of the first term. In order to increase the reliability and acceptability in collecting data.Explanations and descriptions were made to the students ineach class during the appliance of thequestionnarie. SPPS 13 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was used in the analysis ,interpretetion of the information obtained in the research. Data was evaluated in numbers and percents.By means of cross tables , the changes between the first and the second test , the comparisons of thequestions showing the state of doing the research tasks and the state of socialisation have been made.By using the questions of the questionnarie (t test and ANOVA test), the changes between the first andthe second test were determined, the state of doing research tasks and their state of socialization wascompared. 1. The students in charge of doing research tasks are obliged to get more helps from theirparents, brothers and sisters, which increases their state of communication. 2.The students finizhingtheir research tasks are made to get into contact with other people, institutions apart from their families.This situation helps them to be in contact with social life and more socialized individuals. 3. Higher rateof socialization can be observed in the students doing their research tasks in compare with the ones notbeing able to do research tasks. 4. The students who take part in the social activities both inside andoutside the school are more socialised than the ones who don?t take part in social activities. It issuggested to give at least one project in each midterm year and a performance homework in each unit inSocial Sciences
