Yıldız porselen Vejvut serisi ile Wedgwood Jasper serisi ürünlerinin karşılaştırılması

Abstract

İngiliz porselen fabrikası Wedgwood, 1759'da Josiah Wedgwood tarafından kurulmuştur. Josiah Wedgwood, uzun araştırmalar sonucunda ortaya çıkardığı seramik bünyeler ile seramik sektörüne önemli katkılarda bulunmuş bir isimdir. 1762'de Queenware, 1768'de Black Basalt ve 1774'te üretime geçirdiği Jasper isimli seri; Josiah Wedgwood'un en önemli yenilikçi buluşlarındandır. 1891'de Sultan II. Abdülhamid tarafından kurulan Yıldız Çini Farika-i Hümayunu; dönemin sanayileşme hareketlerinin bir sonucu olarak Saray'ın porselen eşya ihtiyacını karşılamak amacıyla kurulmuştur. Yüz yıllık üretim geçmişine sahip olan fabrika zaman içerisinde çok sayıda yönetim ve isim değiştirmiştir. Son olarak 1994 yılında TBMM Milli Saraylara bağlanan Yıldız Porselen Fabrikası üretimine, porselen ve çini alanlarında devam etmektedir. Fabrikanın ürün çeşitlerinden biri olan Vejvut serisi; Wedgwood Jasper serisi ürünleri ile benzer özelliklere sahiptir. Jasper'ın mavi serisiyle aynı bünye rengine sahip olan Vejvut serisi, bunun yanında rölyef uygulama tekniği ve desen teması olarak farklılıklar içermektedir. Tez çalışması; Wedgwood Jasper serisi ürünleri ile Yıldız Porselen Vejvut serisi ürünlerinin karşılaştırılmasını içermektedir. Bu bağlamda hazırlanmış olan tezin birinci bölümünde Josiah Wedgwood ve Wedgwood seramik işletmesinin kuruluşu hakkında bilgi verilmiş, kurum tarafından üretilen ürünler tanıtılmış, Jasper serisi ürünleriyle ilgili detaylı bilgiye yer verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise Yıldız Çini ve Porselen Fabrikası'nın kuruluşuyla ilgili verilen bilgilerin yanında, fabrikada üretilen ürünler de tanıtılmıştır. Bunun yanında Vejvut serisi ürünler detaylı olarak açıklanmış, konu ile ilgili fabrikanın dekor atölyesinde yapılan röportaja da yer verilmiştir. Son olarak üçüncü bölümde Jasper ve Vejvut serisi ürünlerin üretim ve dekor teknikleri yönünden karşılaştırmaları yapılmış ve konu kapsamında gerçekleştirilen uygulamalar görsellerle ifade edilmiştir. Vejvut serisi ürünler yüksek estetik kriterlere sahip olmalarına rağmen Yıldız Çini ve Porselen Fabrikası'nın diğer ürünleri kadar bilinmemesi ve söz konusu ürünlerin literatürde yer almadığının fark edilmesi üzerine hazırlanmış olan tez çalışmasının; bu alandaki eksikliği gidermesi ve seramik literatürüne katkıda bulunmasının yanında, seramik eğitimi açısından da artı değer sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır.

Wedgwood, an English Porcelain Factory, was established by Josiah Wedgwood in 1759. He is the person who contributed to the ceramic industry with the ceramic bodies that he had invented following a long period of study. Queenware which was initiated to be produced in 1762, Black Basalt in 1768 and Jasper in 1774 were his most significant innovator series. Yıldız Çini Fabrika-i Hümayun was established by Abdul Hamid II in 1891 to meet the need of porcelain staff of the Palace as a result of industrialization of the period. With a hundred years of manufacturing experience, the factory changed a lot of administrations and name during this period. Finally, Yıldız Porselen Company which was affiliated to the National Palaces of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 1994 continues its manufacturing in the fields of porcelain and tile. The Vejvut series, a type of the factory's product, has similar properties with the Wedgwood's Jasperware. It has the same body color with the blue Jasperwares but it is different from the latter in term of relief application techniques and the pattern themes. This thesis includes the Wedgwood's Jasper products' and Yıldız Porselen Company's Vejvut products' comparison. In the first part of this thesis which is written in this context, informations about Josiah Wedgwood and establishment of Wedgwood Ceramic Company are given, the products of the company are introduced and detailed information about the Jasper series' products are given. In the second part, beside the informations given about the establishment of the Yıldız Porselen Company, the products that are produced in the factory are introduced. Also the products of Vejvut series are described in detail and the interviews about the topic from the decoration atelier of the factory is included. Finally in the third part the Jasper and Vejvut series' products are compared According to their production and decoration techniques and the applications which are done in the scope of the subject are expressed with the images. Due to the fact that the Vejvut series' products have a high aesthehic criteria although they're not known as much as the other products of the Yıldız Porselen Company and due to the realization of the deficit of these products' in the literature the thesis is written; and it's expected to fulfil the deficiency of this subject in the ceramic literature and contribute to that, also aimed to provide a value in terms of ceramic education.
