Abstract:
Social media has a structure that is provided by words of social communication, images, and audio files. Images and thoughts about history often take place in social media and reach many people. Today, information about history and visuals on social media draw attention. It is a debate whether these sharings are searched consciously by making a decision or they are done subconsciously by believing directly. From this point of view, it is aimed to determine the opinions of social studies teachers and teacher candidates relating to the sharings about the history on social media.The fact that there exists history classes in social studies teaching curriculum and history subjects in secondary social studies teaching is the reason why social studies teachers and teacher candidates are preferred. The research was carried out in accordance with phenemenology, ie phenomenon pattern, of qualitative research methods. Fifteen social studies teachers working in Sakarya and fifteen teacher candidates studying in Faculty of Education of Sakarya University who were chosen by maximum sampling method from the purposeful sampling methods formed the study group of the research. The semi- structured interview form developed by the researcher is the data collection tool of the research in question. The data were subjected to descriptive analysis.
