dc.description.abstract Graphene Oxide (GO)/alpha-MnO2 nanocomposite air breathing cathodes were prepared using mechanical alloying method. For preparation of GO/alpha-MnO2 nanocomposite cathodes, GO was produced by Hummer's method and alpha-MnO2 nanowires were synthesized using microwave hydrothermal synthesis. In order to investigate effect of GO on the electrochemical performance of the GO/alpha-MnO2 cathodes, different amounts of GO (10wt.%, 30wt.%, 50wt.%) were dispersed in the composite cathode. Electrochemical performances of the composite cathodes were tested using ECC-Air test cell. Among the produced composite cathodes, GO/alpha-MnO2 composite cathode containing 50 wt.% alpha-MnO2 showed 380 mAh/g discharge capacity after 30 cycles. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
