Yaşanan süreçleri aktarma ihtiyacı hisseden insan semboller ve kavramlarla bezenmiş olan dil aracılığıyla duygusal ve mantıksal çerçeve içerisinde anlamlandırmada bulunmaktadır. Yapılan bu anlamlandırma ise diller arasındaki farklılıklar nedeniyle çeviri sürecini başlatarak dilsel ve kültürel değerlerin evrenselleşmesine yol açmaktadır. Çeviri sürecindeki metnin veya sözlü ifadenin çıkış noktasındaki dilin ve kültürün önemsendiği görüşlerin yanında hedef dilin ve kültürün önemsendiği görüşler de bulunmaktadır. Bu noktada kişilerin kullanmakta olduğu kelimelerin ve bu kelimelerin yönlendirdiği süreçlerin de okunması yerinde olacaktır. Kullanılan dil, bu dildeki kelimeler ve bu kelimelerin çevirisindeki yöntem ve bakış açısı kullanan kişinin fikir evrenini, ruhsal yapısını, dünyaya bakış açısını ve belki de yapmak istediği etkiyi de belirgin bir biçimde ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Çeviri olgusunun fikri, dilsel ve kültürel süreçlere dahil olmasıyla kültürel ve toplumsal anlamdaki özne ve nesne üzerinden yapılacak değerlendirmelerin boyutunun önemi de dikkate alınmalıdır. Bu çalışma günümüz toplumsal ilişkilerinde rolü artan bilgi ve kültür paylaşımına atfedilen önemin gözle görülür biçimde artışı nedeniyle yapılan çeviri çalışmalarının İslam ülkeleri ve Türkiye arasındaki sürecini incelemek hedefini taşımaktadır. Bu çerçevede başta çeviribilim, kültür, uluslararası ilişkiler alanlarından disiplinlerarası boyutta yararlanılarak yapılan çeviri çalışmalarının oluşturduğu değişken süreçler ve etkiler incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Yapılan çeviri çalışmalarının toplumsal, kültürel, ekonomik, yapısal, idari birçok unsurla bağlantısı bulunması ile bu unsurlara yaptığı etki de yanıt aranan bir diğer alanı oluşturmaktadır. Bu unsurlar ele alınırken çalışmanın odak noktası Ortadaoğu ülkelerinden yapılan çeviri faaliyetlerinin Türkiye'nin toplumsal hayatına yaptığı etkiyi anlamlandırmaktır. Bu çalışmanın temel hedefi Ortadoğu'dan 1960 sonrasında yapılan çevirilerin amacının ve Türkiye'deki toplumsal sahada üzerindeki muhtemel etkisinin anlaşılmasıdır. Çalışma bu sahadaki birincil ve ikincil kaynakların incelenmesi ve taranmasının yanında çeviri eserleri yoğun olarak yapan yayınevlerinin görüşlerinin alındığı değerlendirmeyi de içermektedir. Bu bağlamda Türkçe'ye kazandırılan eserlerde aktarılan konuların içeriği ile ilgili de değendirme yapılmıştır. Bu eserlerin felsefe, edebiyat, biyografi, tarih, psikoloji, ahlak, tasavvuf, modern düşünce eleştirileri olmasının yanında bilim, teknoloji, tıp, sağlık konularını da kapsadığı görülmektedir. Çalışmanın sınırlılıkları içerisinde öncelikli olarak kültür ve kültürün doğası ve medeniyet kavramları incelenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Kültürel dönüşüm ve kültürlerarasılık kavramlarından yola çıkılarak çevirinin bu süreçteki rolü değerlendirilmiştir. Bunun yanında İslam Dünyasında ortaya çıkan farklı ekoller üzerinden Türkiye'nin yaşadığı etkilenme süreci irdelendikten sonra Türkçe'ye en çok eser kazndırılan coğrafyalar olan İran, Mısır, Suudi Arabistan, Cezayir, Libya, Tunus, Sudan ve Suriye gibi ülkelerdeki İslamcı düşüncenin geçirdiği süreçler değerledirilmiştir. Müteakiben ise Türkiye'de İslamcılığın yayılığı ve İslamcı grupların anlaşılması için yoğun faaliyet içerisnde bulunan gruplar incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışma çerçevesinde ayrıca; İslam Dünyasındaki farklı ekollerin çeviri sürecine katılması, İslamcı akımların çeviriler yoluyla Türkiye'ye ilk etkileri, sosyalist İslamcı görüşler ve çeviri yoluyla etkileri, 1960 sonrası İslam dünyasından çeviri yapılmasının nedenleri ve çevrilen eserlerin türleri, 1960 sonrası çevirilerin amacı ve Türkiye'de bulduğu toplumsal karşılık, 1960 sonrası İslam dünyasından çeviri yapan yayınevi ve çevirmenler incelendikten sonra yayınevleri ile yapılan mülakata yer verilmektedir. Çalışma 1960 sonrası yaşanan siyasi ve toplumsal dönüşümlerin gölgesinde İslam dünyasındaki farklı görüşlerin çeviri eserler yoluyla yayılma ve yayıldığı ülkelerde ve Türkiye'de de olumlu veya olumsuz anlamda kabul gördüğünü veya reddedildiğini göstermektedir. Çevirisi yapılan her eser toplumun her kesimi tarafından kabul görmediği gibi her kesim tarafından da reddedilmemiştir. Belli toplumsal yapıların kendi görüşlerini desteklemek maksadıyla bu çalışmaların içine girdiği de bu süreçte görülmektedir. Bu yönüyle çeviri olgusunun ve çevirbiliminin disiplinler arası bir alan olarak birçok kültürel ve toplumsal değişimde yer ve rol aldığı tezi desteklenmektedir.
People, who feel the need to convey the processes experienced, make sense of them in an emotional and logical framework through the language adorned with symbols and concepts. This interpretation leads to the universalization of linguistic and cultural values by starting the translation process due to the differences between languages. In addition to the views that attach importance to the language and culture at the origin of the text or oral expression in the translation process, there are also views that attach importance to the target language and culture. For that reason it would be appropriate to read the words people use and the processes they control. The language used, the words in that language, and the methods and perspectives of translating those words clearly show the universe of ideas, the spiritual structure, the perspective of the world, and perhaps the effects they are trying to achieve. Since the concept of translation is involved in intellectual, linguistic and cultural processes, the importance of the subject and object evaluation dimensions in the cultural and social sense must also be considered. This study focus to examine the process of translation studies between Islamic countries and Turkey, due to the apparent increase in the importance attributed to the sharing of knowledge and culture, whose role in today's social relations is increasing. In this context, the variable processes and effects created by the translation studies made by making use of the interdisciplinary fields of translation studies, culture and international relations were tried to be examined. The fact that the translation studies have connections with many social, cultural, economic, structural and administrative factors and the effect it has on these factors constitutes another area for which answers are sought. The focus of my research is to understand the impact of translation activities from Middle East countries on Turkish social life. The main aim of this study is to comprehend the purpose translated from the Middle East since 1960 and its potential effect on the social sphere of Turkey. In addition to researching and researching primary and secondary materials in this area, this research also includes an evaluation of the opinions of publishers who are focused on translation work. Within this context, it can be understood that these works cover not only science, technology, medicine and health, but also criticisms of philosophy, literature, biography, history, psychology, morality, mysticism. Within the borders of this work, primarily culture and the nature of culture and the concepts of civilization were examined and interpreted. Based on the concepts of cultural transformation and interculturality, the role of translation in this process has been evaluated. In addition, after examining the influence process of Turkey through the different schools that emerged in the Islamic World, the processes of Islamist thought in countries such as Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan and Syria, which are the geographies where the most works were written in Turkish, were evaluated. Subsequently, the groups engaged in intense activity were examined to understand the spread of Islamism and the Islamist groups in Turkey. In addition, within the frame of this study; The participation of different Islamic groups in the translation process, first effects of Islamist movements on Turkey through translations, socialist Islamist views and their effects through translation, the reasons for the translation from the Islamic world after 1960 and the types of translated works, the purpose of translations after 1960 and the social response it found in Turkey, publishing houses and translators who made translations from the Islamic world after 1960, interviews with publishers are included. Political and social transformations experienced after 1960, different views in the Islamic world spread through translated works and were accepted or rejected in a positive or negative sense in Turkey and in the countries where they spread. Each translated work was not accepted by all segments of the society, nor was it rejected by all segments. It is seen in this process that certain social structures are involved in these studies in order to support their own views. In this respect, the thesis that the phenomenon of translation and translation studies take place and role in many cultural and social changes as an interdisciplinary field is supported.
