Global rekabetin ve e-ticaretin öneminin artmasıyla tedarik zinciri yönetimi karlılıkve maliyet düşürmenin temel çözümü haline gelmiştir. Geleneksel stok yenilemeyöntemlerine alternatif olarak ortaya çıkan VMI (vendor managed inventory -tedarikçi yönetiminde envanter kontrolü), stok yenileme sürecinin yönetim yetkisinive sorumluluğunu tedarikçiye vermektedir.Bu çalışmada VMI ile ilgili literatür araştırması yapılmış ve şimdiye kadar yapılanbilimsel çalışmalar bir araya getirilerek gelecek çalışmalar için bir temel oluşturmasıhedeflenmiştir.Çalışmada, ekonomik sipariş miktarı modeli baz alınarak VMI sisteminin faydalarıaraştırılmış ve bir işletmede bu model uygulanarak VMI sisteminin müşterininenvanter maliyetlerini azalttığı fakat tedarikçinin maliyetlerini arttırdığı görülmüştür.
Profitability in supply chain management is becoming one of the main key solutionfactors of cost reduction after understanding the importance of e-commerce andcompetition in global markets. VMI concept came out as an alternative to traditionalstock replenishment models, gives the responsibility of managing all criticalelements of stock replenishment process to its corresponding related suppliers.A detailed literature research related with VMI is been carried out in this study,aimed to give a supportive, constructive base work by combining all of the scientificstudy that has been carried out by different researchers till now.Benefits of VMI is been examined by paying attention to Economic Order Quantitymodel and the model is applied to an industrial organization to see its correspondingeffects in the stock replenishment cycle. Finally, as a result of this study; there exist areduction in the stock out costs in the customer side, but on the other hand a costincrease in the supplier side is been observed.
