ULUSLARARASI ÖĞRENCİLERİN SERBEST OKUMA DURUMLARI

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de üniversite öğrenimi gören uluslararası_x000D_ öğrencilerin okuma alışkanlıkları; seçilen okuma materyalinin türü, okuma_x000D_ yapılan konular, okuma için ayrılan süre gibi değişkenler açısından_x000D_ değerlendirilerek serbest okuma durumları hakkında fikir sahibi olmak_x000D_ amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, nitel bir araştırmadır. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler_x000D_ görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017_x000D_ eğitim-öğretim yılında Sakarya Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören dokuz_x000D_ yabancı uyruklu öğrenci ile aynı yıl İstanbul Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören_x000D_ on bir yabancı uyruklu öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda,_x000D_ öğrencilerin serbest okuma için materyal seçme konusunda zorlandıkları,_x000D_ basılı materyal okumak yerine ekran okumayı tercih ettikleri, sınıf düzeyleri_x000D_ arttıkça serbest okumaya ayırdıkları sürenin azaldığı gibi bulgulara_x000D_ ulaşılmıştır.

In this study, it is aimed to have ideas about free-reading states of_x000D_ international students who are having their university educations in Turkey_x000D_ by evaluating the terms like the type of the reading material chosen and_x000D_ topics read and time designated to reading. The study is a qualitative_x000D_ research. The data was obtained by interviewing technique. The study group_x000D_ consists of nine foreign students studying in Sakarya University during_x000D_ academic year of 2016-2017 along with eleven other students studying in_x000D_ Istanbul University the same year. At the end of the study it was revealed that_x000D_ they have difficulty in choosing material for free-reading, that they prefer screen-reading instead of published materials and that the time designated to_x000D_ free-reading decreases when their class levels increases.
