Abstract:
In this work, a FPGA based remote accessible digital system laboratory prototype is created for Electrical & Electronics Engineering undergraduate students. The system consists of an Altera DE2 development and education board interfaced with a laboratory through Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 C# platform and serial port. It enables students to make design and practice at any place and time, even at home, just with an internet access which have no use rights to the physically laboratory. Three different module objects are created by VHDL to design digital circuits in Quartus environment and simulate DE2 board's leds, switches and seven segment displays with the interface for students. They can see the results by interface and web camera. All the training process established on the Lab PC by use of the limited user Microsoft XP Remote Desktop. The system minimizes the losing and damaging TTL components, increases the student's hardware and software abilities and creative senses.
