dc.description.abstract This paper proposes closed form equations showing the relationships between the geometrical parameters of a grooved cover of a metallic enclosure and the associated stop band (or band-gap) in the frequency spectra of the electromagnetic field propagating inside the enclosure. The closed form expressions are validated by comparing their results with those obtained by accurate full wave three dimensional simulations. A systematic analysis of the impact of some geometrical parameters is also carried out.
