Abstract:
Secondary treated urban wastewater is commonly used water resource in agriculture in arid areas. In this study, urban wastewater treated with secondary treatment was subjected to tertiary treatment with four different sand filter alternatives. In each of the tertiary treatment alternatives, parameters such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Suspended Solids (SS), turbidity, conductivity and pH were measured. Advanced treatment processes are discussed based on the removal efficiency of target parameters. As first step of tertiary treatment units, sand filter is utilized in four different alternative pilot plants. Pilot plants' treated wastewater efficiency values are suitable for the use of for agricultural purposes.
