The aim of this study is to utilize colemanite concantrator waste (CW) occuring during colemanite enrichment process. The effects of CW on the physical and mechanical properties of cement were tested through a number of tests namely partical size, setting time, compressive and bending strength. The properties of cement containing CW is compared to the ordinary Portland cement and the Turkish standarts. The macroscopic cross-sections (mu, cm(-1)) of boren-doped concretes at 4 cm thicknesses were calculated at photon energy of 4 MeV. It was seen that the macroscopic cross-sections of the concretes were increased with the increasing content of CW used in the samples. Related to this, the shielding property of the 15 wt % boren-doped concrete was superior to that of the other specimens. |
