Abstract:
Activated carbons' were prepared by ZnCl2/CO2 and other salt solutions/CO2 activation of the rice husk. The products were characterized in terms of density, elemental analysis, specific surface area, and porosity. The specific surface area of activated carbon is 480 m(2) g(-1), porosity diameter is 0.0044 mu m, specific pore volume is 1.3652 cm(3) g(-1). The surface area and the nature of the porosity of the resulting activated carbons were found to be related to the concentration and type of the impregnated salt solutions.
