Abstract:
In this study, oil and freeze resistant performance of rubber compounds with non-carcinogenic (phthalate-free) plasticizer were investigated. Acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer (NBR), polychloroprene rubber (CR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR) and their blends were used as rubbers. Dioctyl adipate (DOA) was used as plasticizer. Depending on formulation, glass transition temperatures (T(g) s) of the compounds measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were changed between -22.39 degrees C and -33.17 degrees C. The swelling characteristics in polar liquids were investigated using standard IRM 903 reference oil and analytical balance with specific gravity kit and it was found that the volume change ranged from 8.3% to 33.3%.
