Abstract

Bu tezde 17. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında İstanbul Yahudi cemaatinin demografik, sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı incelenmiştir. İstanbul Yahudi toplumunu oluşturan cemaatlerin kökenine inilmiş, fetihten sonraki süreçte gerçekleşen sürgünlerin ve Batı Avrupa'da anti-semitik politikalara maruz kalarak göç edenlerin etkisiyle şekillenen Yahudi toplumundaki demografik değişimlerin izi sürülmüştür. Osmanlı başkentinde Yahudilerin ağırlıklı şekilde meskun olduğu bölgelerin yanı sıra 17. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Yahudi yerleşim haritasında yaşanan değişimler ve nedenleri ele alınmıştır. Çalışmamız, kadı sicilleri ve cizye defterleri başta olmak üzere döneme ait arşiv vesikalarının ışığında hazırlanmıştır.

In this thesis, the demographic, social and economic structure of the Istanbul Jewish community in the second half of the 17th century was examined. The origins of the communities that make up the Jewish community of Istanbul have been explored, and the demographic changes in the Jewish community shaped by the influence of the exiles that took place after the conquest and those who emigrated after being exposed to anti-Semitic policies in Western Europe have been traced. In addition to the areas where Jews were predominantly settled in the Ottoman capital, the changes in the Jewish settlement map in the second half of the 17th century and their reasons are discussed. Our study was prepared in the light of archive documents of the period, especially kadi registers and cizye defters
