Başarılı ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin sahip oldukları akademik ve kişilik özellikleri ile değerlerine yönelik bir durum çalışması = A case study for the successful secondary school 8th graders' academic and personal features and their values

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, ortaokul sekizinci sınıf düzeyinde öğrenim gören akademik başarısı yüksek öğrencilerin sahip oldukları değerlerin tespiti amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma Kocaeli ili İzmit ilçesinde bulunan bir devlet ortaokulunda 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında 8. sınıf düzeyinde öğrenim gören akademik başarısı yüksek 3 öğrenci, bu öğrencilerin 3 aile bireyi ve 4 ders öğretmeninin katılımıyla sürdürülmüştür. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden örnek olay (durum çalışması) tekniği kullanılarak yapılan bu çalışmada toplanan veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan formlar, araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda öğrenci, öğretmen ve velilere dönük yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formları şeklinde uzman görüşü alınarak araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulmuştur. Amaç doğrultusunda daha net veriler elde etmek adına kişilik özellikleri, akademik özellikleri ve değerler temalı derinleştirme soruları yöneltilerek yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formlarıyla bulgular elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler nitel içerik analizi ve betimsel analize tabi tutularak kodlar ve temalara ulaşılmıştır. Bu veriler tablolar ve görseller yardımıyla betimlenmiştir. Araştırma sonunda, MEB (2018) Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programında yer alan ve kazandırılması hedeflenen değerler ile araştırmada elde edilen başarılı ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin sahip olduğu değerler karşılaştırıldığında, başarılı ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin insani değerlere orta düzeyin üzerinde sahip oldukları görülmüştür. In this study, it was aimed to determine the values of high academic achievement students studying at the eighth grade level of secondary school. The research was carried out with the participation of 3 students with high academic success, 3 family members of these students and 4 lesson teachers studying at the 8th grade level in a state secondary school located in Izmit district of Kocaeli province in the academic year of 2018-2019. The data collected in this study using the case study technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was obtained through semi-structured interview forms. The forms used in the study were created by the researcher by taking expert opinion in the form of semi-structured interview forms for students, teachers and parents in line with the purpose of the study. In order to obtain clearer data in line with the purpose, findings were obtained with semi-structured interview forms by asking deepening questions based on personality traits, academic characteristics and values. The codes and themes were reached by subjecting the obtained data to qualitative content analysis and descriptive analysis. These data are depicted with the help of tables and visuals. At the end of the study, when the values included in the MEB (2018) Social Studies Curriculum and the values aimed to be acquired were compared with the values of the successful middle school 8th grade students obtained in the study, it was seen that successful middle school 8th grade students had human values above the middle level.
