Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the health problems of women with menopause and coping methods used by them. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 204 women in the menopausal period. Data were collected by using Participant Description Questionnaire, Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) and Coping with Menopausal Symptoms Questionnaire. Results: A negatively significant correlation among the age of women and the total score of MRS, psychological problems subscale score and urogenital problems subscale score. Besides, a negatively significant correlation among the menopause duration of women and the mean score of the urogenital problems subscale score. A statistically significant difference was found between the education level of women and MRS and also the somatic problems sub scale score. Conclusion: Women have experienced health problems for many systems in menopausal period and menopausal symptoms have affected women's life in many ways. It was observed that as the age, duration of menopause and education level of women increased, the severity of menopausal symptoms decreased and the quality of life of women was less affected. Determining the effect of menopausal symptoms on women's health will enable to plan the training and consultancy services that are specific to the menopausal problems and coping methods and determination of care goals. |
