ThCr2Si2 ve LuNi2B2C Tipi Süperiletkenlerin Yoğunluk Fonksiyonel Teorisi Kullanılarak İncelenmesi

Abstract

ÖZET YNi2B2C materyalinde süperiletkenlik geçiş sıcaklığının 15 K’e yakın sıcaklıkta bulunmasından hemen sonra, borkarbür süperiletken malzemeler üzerine devam eden ve gittikçe artan bir ilgi oluşmuştur. Birçok deneysel ve teorik çalışmalar yeni ve daha yüksek süperiletkenlik geçiş sıcaklığına (TC) sahip borkarbür süperiletken malzemeler bulmak için yapıldı. Sonunda, kristal yapısı (LuNi2B2C yapı) ThCr2Si2’den türeyen yüksek sıcaklıklı yeni borkarbür süperiletkenler bulundu. Bunların içinde en yüksek TC değeri 23 K ile YPd2B2C için elde edildi. Böylece, ThCr2Si2 tipi metaller arası (intermetalik) malzemeler onların süperiletkenlik ve manyetik özelliklerinden dolayı çalışıldı. ThCr2Si2 tipi kristal yapıya sahip olan SrPd2Ge2 için ikinci tip süperiletkenlik bildirildi (TC~3 K). Bu süperiletken, demir içeren süperiletkenlere göre oldukça ilgi çekiciydi çünkü manyetik metal (Fe), manyetik olmayan metal (Pd) ile yer değiştirmişti. Bu süperiletkenin bulunması LiCu2P2 ve BaNi2P2 ikinci tip süperiletkenlerin bulunmasına öncülük etti. Birçok deneysel çalışma bu süperiletken malzemelerin süperiletkenlik parametrelerini elde etmek için yapıldı. Bu deneysel çalışmalar bu malzemelerin yapısal ve elektronik özellikleri üzerine olan teorik çalışmalara bir zemin hazırladı. Bu malzemelerde süperiletkenliğin daha iyi anlaşılması için onların fonon özellikleri de araştırılmalıdır. Çünkü süperiletkenliğin kaynağı hemen hemen elektron-fonon etkileşimidir. Bizim bilgilerimize göre, bu süperiletkenlerde elektron-fonon etkileşiminin teorik incelenmesi yapılmamıştır. Bu nedenle bu süperiletkenlerde, süperiletkenliğin kaynağı literatürde halen bilinmemektedir. Bu projenin amacı YPd2B2C, LaPt2B2C, LaRu2P2, BaNi2P2, LiCu2P2 ve SrPd2Ge2 süperiletkenlerinin yapısal ve elektronik özelliklerinin günümüzde en gelişmiş teorik metotlardan birisi olan yoğunluk fonksiyonel teorisi ve düzlem dalga sözdepotansiyel (pseudopotansiyel) metodu ile araştırılmasıdır. Yapısal ve elektronik özellikler elde edildikten sonra lineer tepki metodu bu malzemelerde fononların çalışılması için kullanılacaktır. Ayrıca, bu materyallerin Fermi seviyesindeki durum yoğunluğu (N(EF)), Eliashberg spektral fonksiyonu (α2F(ω)), elektron-fonon etkileşme parametresi (λ), elektronik özgül ısı katsayısı (γ) ve süperiletkenlik geçiş sıcaklığı (Tc) gibi süperiletkenlik parametrelerini belirlemek için, elektronfonon etkileşmeleri de araştırılacaktır. Hesaplanan süperiletkenlik parametrelerini kullanarak bu materyallerin süperiletkenlik özelliklerinin fiziksel açıklaması yapılacaktır. ABSTRACT Immediately after the discovery of superconductivity near 15 K in YNi2B2C, there has been continued and increasing interest in borocarbide superconducting materials. Many experimental and theoretical works have been made for the discovery of new borocarbide superconductors with higher transition temperature (TC) values. At the end, new borocarbide superconductors with ThCr2Si2-derivative structure (LuNi2B2C structure) indicating high TC values have been discovered. Among these materials, the highest TC value of 23 K has been observed for YPd2B2C. Thus, ThCr2Si2 type intermetallics have been studied due to their superconducting and magnetic properties. Type-II superconductivity has been reported for SrPd2Ge2 (TC near 3 K), which has ThCr2Si2-type structure. This superconductor seems enchanting as compared to Fe-based superconductors because the magnetic metal (Fe) is replaced by the nonmagnetic metal (Pd). This has led to the discovery of type-II superconductivity in LiCu2P2, BaNi2P2. Several experimental studies have been made to obtain superconducting parameters of these superconductors. The experimental works have provided impetus for theoretical studies of the structural and electronic properties of these materials. In order to achieve a better understanding of superconductivity in these materials, phonon properties of them must be studied experimentally as well as theoretically because the source of superconductivity is almost exclusively the electron-phonon interaction. To the best of our knowledge, theoretical investigation of the electron-phonon interaction in these superconductors has not been made. Thus, the source of superconductivity in these superconductors are still lacking in the literature. The goal of this project is to make the state-of-the-art investigations of the structural and electronic properties of the superconductors YPd2B2C, LaPt2B2C, LaRu2P2, BaNi2P2, LiCu2P2 and SrPd2Ge2 by employing the plane wave pseudopotential method and density functional theory. With the availability of these results, a linear response method will be applied to study phonons in these materials. Moreover, we will carry out ab initio calculations of electronphonon interaction for these materials in order to calculate their superconducting parameters such as the density of states at the Fermi level (N(EF)), the Eliashberg spectral function (α2F(ω)), the electron-phonon coupling parameter (λ), the electronic specific heat coefficient (γ) and superconducting transition temperature (TC). Using the calculated superconducting parameters, we will try to explain the physics of superconductivity in these superconductors.
