DAVID HUME’DA AHLÂKIN KAPSAMI VE KONUMU

Abstract

Bu çalışmada David Hume’un ahlâk anlayışını, olgu-değer ayrımı ışığında ele almaya çalışacağız. Hume için böyle bir ayrımın yapılıp yapılamayacağı hususu gerek epistemoloji gerek ahlâk hakkındaki görüşlerinden çıkarılmaya çalışıla- caktır. İnsan doğasının bilimini tesis etmeye çalışan Hume’un metodolojik ilke- leri uyarınca böyle bir ayrımı kabul etmesinin mümkün olmadığı gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır. Bunu yapmaya çalışırken söz konusu husus natüralizm bağlamın- da da değerlendirilecektir. Temel amaçlardan biri de ahlâkın yalıtılmış veya özel bir alan olmaktan ziyade, kapsamının ekonomiyi de içerecek biçimde son derece geniş olduğunu göstermektir. Sonuç olarak ise Hume için ahlâkın kapsamı ve konumu açıklığa kavuşturulmaya çalışılacaktır.

In this work, we will try to examine David Hume’s moral understanding in the light of so-called “the fact and the value distinction”. According to Hume’s views on epistemology and ethics, such a distinction is not possible. We will try to show that if we follow his methodological principles, which are trying to establish the science of human nature, it is not possible to accept such a distinction. While we are trying to do this, the matter will also be considered in the context of naturalism. One of the main aims is to show that the scope of morality is very broad, including the economy, rather than being isolated or private. As a result, we will try to elaborate the scope and status of morality in Hume’s philosophy.
